Name: First described as “Silver-zinc stannite” in 1948. Named by V.N. Soboleva in 1956 as kësterite, after the discovery locality Këster (Kester; Кестёр) deposit, Arga-Ynnakh-Khai granite massif, Yakutia, Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia.
